Von Miller is set to become a free agent later this month, but it appears the Los Angeles Rams are going to do everything in their power to retain the veteran linebacker.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network says there is a "mutual interest" in Miller returning to the Rams.
The Rams were going to make a concerted effort to retain Miller, according to Boardroom's Jordan Shultz. He said the franchise was open to a one-year contract or multiyear deal.
While both sides are interested in a reunion, Mike Garafolo reported before Super Bowl 56 that Miller planned to explore the open market, as he has never been a free agent.
The Broncos traded Miller to the Rams midway through the 2021 season. L.A. sent two picks to Denver to get the eight-time Pro Bowler.
He played in eight games for the Rams and recorded five sacks, one forced fumble, 31 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss and eight quarterback hits. He had four sacks, including two in the Super Bowl, and 14 tackles, six of which were for a loss.
It is not surprising that Miller would be open to returning to L.A. since he played a significant role in the Super Bowl victory. During the Super Bowl parade, Miller said he wanted to return it to the Rams.
Greg Beacham @gregbeachamVon Miller also says he wants to run it back with the Rams: “We ain’t going nowhere. California knows how to party, baby!”
It will be difficult for the Rams to retain Miller. They have to re-sign players such as Donald and Beckham, which will be expensive.
If L.A. is unable to re-sign the veteran, he will likely return to Denver where he spent the first nine-and-a-half years of his career. He said if it were up to him, he would still be in Denver.
The competition for Miller's services could heat up quickly.
