The golfer is expected to return to the tour next week. Phil is not.

The field for the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, includes DeChambeau, who hasn't played since missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open in late January.

Since missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open, Lefty has not played.

DeChambeau withdrew from the Arnold Palmer invitational on Monday due to his ongoing recovery from a left hand injury.

DeChambeau missed the weekend at the Farmers because he was not in the official tour events. He is not in the top 200 in the FedEx Cup.

In February, DeChambeau withdrew from the second round of the Saudi International because of left hand and left hip injuries, after shooting 3-over 73 in the first round. He said he was hurt in a fall.

This will be the third missed Players Championship for Lefty since he turned pro, he previously skipped the 1994 and 2003 events.

Two weeks ago, an excerpt from Alan Shipnuck's unauthorized biography of golfer Phil Mickelson was released. In it, he described the Saudis as scary but said he was looking past their history of human rights violations to gain leverage.

In a statement last week, Mickelson said he was taking time away from golf to work on being the man he wants to be.

His comments caused his sponsors to end their relationship with him. Callaway paused its sponsorship with the six-time major champion after signing him to a contract for the rest of his career.
