One free-agent quarterback is drawing more interest than usual.

Mitchell Trubisky isgaining strong momentum with the quarterback trade market drying up, and he should get a starting job for the campaign in 2022, according to Mike Klis of 9News.

The quarterback-desperate teams include the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Commanders and Denver Broncos.

According to reports, the Green Bay Packers will likely retain Rodgers in 2022. The market for players like Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson will be very competitive, making it difficult for any franchise to land them.

Interest in Trubisky should not come as a surprise. He was a backup to Josh Allen for the Buffalo Bills in the 2021 season, and head coach Sean McDermott didn't think he'd be back in 2022.

It's not realistic to think we're going to have him back. Brandon Beane, the general manager of the Bills, said that Trubisky would get a good opportunity to compete for a starting job in 2022.

The open market is at a good time. Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder, and Matt Corral are some of the quarterbacks who are expected to be selected in the draft.

Trubisky has a lot of experience and would be a better option than any of the rookies. He was a member of the Chicago Bears for the first four seasons of his career.

He was selected to the Pro Bowl after going 11-3 and completing 66.6% of his passes for 3,223 yards and 24 touchdown against 12 turnovers.

The play of Trubisky dropped off in the second half of the year after he had racked up more than 3000 yards in the first. He appeared in 10 games for the Bears in 2020 and went 6-3 while completing 68.0 percent of his passes for 2,055 yards and 16 touchdown.

After falling out of favor in Chicago, Trubisky became a free agent and agreed to a one-year deal with the Bills.

When free agency begins on March 16 it would be expected that Trubisky would agree to a deal.
