Facebook is no longer running ads in Russia. The company announced on Friday that it is pausing ads that target people in the country and is no longer allowing advertisers in Russia to run ads anywhere in the world. The actions against the country mark a big increase in its actions against the country and could help prevent Russian misinformation from appearing in Facebook ads.

As a result of the Russian government's decision to block access to Facebook in the Russian Federation, millions of people will not be able to post to social media. Russians who are protesting the war can't post on the social network because of the block.

Similar moves from other companies have halted ads in Russia.
