Lamar Jackson said he still has something to prove as a Black quarterback in the NFL.
Jackson addressed the issue during an appearance on The Shop, which had its season premiere Friday.
James said that the bias against Black quarterbacks is still there, even though it is dying off.
Jackson said it was still there. That is why I need that title.
James talked about how he felt disrespected when he wasn't included in discussions about the best NBA players of all time. He said that Jackson could relate to it because he was told he wasn't a real quarterback.
Four years ago, Jackson was asked to run wide receiver drills at the NFL scouting combine, after being a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback. Jackson said that he had no idea why this happened.
Jackson was the fourth black quarterback to win the Most Valuable Player. In the regular season, he is 37-12 and just 1-3 in the playoffs.
Jackson said that he hopes to take everything from James. Being a champion. I feel like that is the only thing I can take from him. Being a champion is what you mean. Being a billionaire. I have been thinking about that since I was a kid, being a billionaire and a champion.
