A husband and wife from Poland are opening a Polish market in Milwaukee.

Adam Bartoszek has been married to his wife for 20 years.

Adam said a lot of people were knocking on their door on the day they were supposed to open the Polish market. The market was supposed to open a few days later.

He said that the community was very receptive to it.

The Polish community is close to us, and we think we can offer more.

Sausages, pierogi,czki, cakes and sauerkraut will be available at the market. Deli meats, cheese, dry goods, candy, bread and hot rolls will be available.

The store would not be limited to food. The owners are also stocking traditional holiday decorations.

Adam said they were trying to offer a little bit of everything.

This industry has been around for a while. While living in Poland, she ran two grocery stores and went to school to become a chef.

In 2001 and 1976, Adam and Wioletta moved to the U.S.

Bigos and golabki, cold cut platter and baked goods are some of the hot to-go meals that the couple plans to offer in the future.

Adam said they are still in the process of permitting and have some remodeling to do inside the space, but they are planning to open on March 4.

Adam said that the space was home to a hardware store a few years back.

He said that they did flooring, plumbing, and cosmetic work to get the market ready.

She wants customers to feel like they are going to a house rather than a store.

Adam, who works as director of operations at a local plating company, said that she is a big advocate for the hospitality side and that she offers a warm, inviting environment. No one does it better than her.

The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Adam said they were excited to come into that area.
