To the editor.

Minnesota has a surplus and can't decide what to do with it. I am curious as to how many people know that Minnesota is one of only 13 states that taxes Social Security. I think that doesn't happen until you start collecting it. You realize that no one cares about old people by that time.

We have contributed to Social Security since we started our careers, but it has been taxed, so we work and save to retire.

Please help change this practice by contacting our legislators. Don't wait until you are old, no one cares.

Nancy Henderson.
