Thomas Gokey said that a lack of movement on student debt cancellation will result in the Democratic party's base staying at home.
A recent poll shows that nearly two-thirds of likely voters are in favor of Biden canceling some or all of his student debt, with more than 70% of Latino and Black voters in favor.
Gokey said that advocates were having an impact on the White House deliberations.
Gokey said that a few months ago they were adamant that they had extended the payment pause for the last time.
He hopes that the administration doesn't forgive $10,000 only and then restart payments.
He said that cancelling $10,000 is the same thing as canceling nothing for the vast majority of people.
