The platform may soon launch a dedicated podcasts tab on its mobile apps, as it continues to develop its live audio product, Spaces.
According to reverse engineers who look at the code of mobile apps to spot features in development, this addition would create a dedicated space on Twitter to house podcasts.
We asked if the feature would be rolled out. We are always exploring new ways to help people engage in the conversation on the platform, but have no further details to share at this time.
There are a number of features that are similar to a radio show in the live audio Spaces. Users can listen to Spaces after the live recording, which will help the hosts earn more engagement from a new audience. Users will see a red recording button when listening to recorded Space. The feature that allows hosts to view listening statistics about their recorded Spaces is rolling out.
A podcasts tab could be a home for users to browse recorded Spaces and generate more engagement in this content; they already show live Spaces in their own tab. There is a difference between a live, recorded conversation and a properly edited, sound-designed podcast, but we will just have to see what happens with this feature.
