The locked-out baseball players are starting a fund to help workers who are affected by canceled games.

Major League Baseball will be setting up a fund for impacted workers, according to a source.

The fund will be administered by the unions, according to the players association. It will be given to stadium workers and others who are experiencing financial hardship because of the baseball labor dispute.

The fund being set up by MLB has not been announced.

The games were supposed to start on Feb. 26. The first two series for each team were canceled by the Commissioner on Tuesday.

They are vital to the entertainment experience of our games, but they are not seen or heard. We want to let them know that we support them.

There are broadcast and concession crews, electricians, ushers, security, transportation and janitors needed for MLB games.

Tony Clark, the union head, said in a statement that the fund is intended to support workers who are most affected by the MLB-imposed lock out but whose livelihoods have been ignored by the owners in their efforts to pressure players into accepting an unfair deal.

The Associated Press and Jesse Rogers contributed to the report.
