Microsoft stopped new sales of its products and services in Russia.

Brad Smith, Microsoft's president, announced the decision Friday as Western businesses continued to boycott Russia. Microsoft didn't say whether existing services will still be available.

Microsoft said it is working closely with the governments of the U.S., U.K. and the European Union and is suspending many aspects of its business in Russia in compliance with government sanctions.

When we take concrete steps in coordination with the decisions being made by these governments and we will take additional steps as the situation continues to evolve, we will be most effective in aiding Ukraine.

Microsoft said it was working to keep Ukraine informed of cyberattacks. Smith wrote in a post Monday that attackers have gone after Ukrainian military institutions and manufacturers.

Tech companies in the U.S. have limited their involvement in Russia. Apple said it would stop selling products in the country. All ads in Russia have been paused by both companies.

Apple has stopped all product sales in Russia.
