In Equity, we unpack the numbers behind the headlines, where we discuss the business of startups.
Chris Gates has been a part of the team since the birth of Equity. He produced and edited hundreds of episodes after he helped found the show. He was a pillar of the team and a key driver of how the show operated. He brought warmth and care to our work. One of our colleagues said that the history of the podcasts can be written without his name.
Chris' last day was last Friday and it was good news for his new employer. We gathered to record a special episode.
We played back clips from the show, including our first episode, the first time thatNatasha was on the show. That sort of thing. We said nice things about Chris at the same time.
Equity's birthday isn't for a week or two, but we decided to hybridize our look-back with Chris's exit. We are an earnest team that needed a minute to be earnest.
Don't worry if you are an Equity listener. Grace Mendenhall is still on the production team, so we are in good hands. In the last few weeks, we have added another person to our team, who has been doing an excellent job helping us write and record. Kell is helping to make our babble usable.
We are getting back to work after hugging it out.
More to come! We're not leaving! We will miss Chris. A lot.
Equity goes down on Mondays at 7 a.m. Wednesday and Friday are at 6 a.m. You can subscribe to us on Apple Podcasts, Overcast, and all the casts.
