In an interview with NBC, Barr said that he believed that Trump was responsible for the January 6 attack on the Capitol building.

It appears that part of Trump's plan to block the electoral vote count was to send this group to the Hill.

The House January 6 committee told a judge that they have a good-faith basis in believing that Trump and his associates are guilty of criminal activity. Legal experts are skeptical that the DOJ will take up an investigation.

Barr served as Trump's attorney general from February to December 2020, drawing widespread criticism for appearing to do the president's bidding before leaving office. The former AG told the Associated Press that he had not seen fraud on a scale that could have changed the outcome of the election. Holt said Barr told him he believed the theme was already baked in, when he was asked if he regretted not speaking out before January 6.
