Masvidal is about to fight in one of the biggest fights of his career, and he has just signed a new contract with the UFC.
Masvidal signed an extension that would make him one of the top-five highest-paid fighters on the UFC roster, according to his co-agent.
Masvidal, who has been a pro fighter since 2003 and has been a best friend and roommate of Colby, will fight his former roommate at UFC 272 at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.
After five months of negotiations with Hunter Campbell, Masvidal's deal was signed.
Masvidal has become one of the biggest stars in MMA after a late-career renaissance that was jump-start in 2019. The fastest finish in UFC history was Masvidal's five-second running knee knockout of Askren.
Masvidal's contract pays him like a champion and he will finish his career in the UFC, according to his agent.
Masvidal has lost his last two fights, both against Kamaru Usman, the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He has been in the UFC for nine years. Before that, Masvidal fought all over the world and began his career in backyard fighting in South Florida with the likes of Kimbo Slice.
Masvidal said at the news conference that he will be getting a portion of the pay-per-view revenue from the card, while his opponent will not. The fight is not about money, because of how personal it is.
Masvidal said his kids are going to be good for a long time.
