Brooklyn Nets guard Joe Harris will have season-ending surgery on his left ankle, the team announced prior to Thursday's game against the Miami Heat.
Harris had surgery on his ankle in November and was expected to be out for four to eight weeks, but he never healed and was not comfortable on the floor.
Although Joe worked diligently over the past several months to rehab his ankle and exhausted every possible avenue in order to get back on the court with his teammates, it has been determined that he will require an additional arthroscopic surgery in the coming weeks.
We know how disappointed Joe is to miss this stretch run, but he remains a huge part of who we are as an organization and while he won't be able to contribute on the court, his presence and positivity around the team will continue to be felt by all.
Nets coach Steve Nash said that Harris was never able to join the Nets in formal practices because he was never able to get back on the floor.
Marks said in an interview with YES Network before the game that he is the quintessential teammate.
On the same night that the Harris news came on, Kevin Durant made his return to the floor after missing a month and a half due to a left knee injury. Marks said during the interview that Ben Simmons is still out because of a back issue. Simmons is not sure if he will return to the floor. He requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers over the summer and hasn't played since.
Marks said that his back stiffness has delayed his ability to get on the court with his teammates. We can really ramp up and get him into game shape.
We have to take it day by day and see how he responds. We need to get this group together and get some minutes on the court.
