The year began with a number of high-profile game delays, most notably Cyberpunk 2077. The games industry was thrown through a loop by COVID-19. As the year progresses, more delays will hit the industry as developers begin to understand the effects of the Pandemic.

We compiled a list of every game that was delayed. Some of the games are stuck indefinitely, while others have release windows or a final release date. As more game news develops, we will continually update this list.

Games delayed into 2022 and beyond

Final Fantasy 16

Final Fantasy 16 never had a release date, but the developer still informs fans that development was delayed by six months. It is not clear when it will launch, but people can expect more information later in the year. The delay was caused by the Pandemic.

Ghostwire: Tokyo

The new Tango Gameworks work was supposed to hit PS5 and PC in 2021. The studio has been working on a version of the game, but it was pushed to early 2022.

March 25, 2022, release date.

God of War Ragnarok

We don't know much about God of War, other than what we can glean from the reveal trailer, but we knew it wasn't going to release in 2021. The release date for Sony Santa Monica was bumped to sometime in 2022.

Gotham Knights

WB Games Montreal's Batman title won't be released in 2021. The best experience was delayed until next year. Players will be able to take control of the Bat Family and uncover the secrets behind the Court of Owls when it launches on PS5.

Hogwarts Legacy

During a Sony PS5 press conference in September 2020, WB Games unveiled Hogwarts Legacy. The best possible experience was delayed due to the upcoming RPG, which was to take us back to the popular Wizarding World sometime later this year. It looks like we will need to wait a bit longer, but hopefully, it will be worth it.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

The Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was supposed to be released in spring 2021, but it didn't happen as planned. At Gamescom 2021, it was revealed that the new release date would be in the spring of 2022. The April 5 release date was settled by the company.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

The reveal trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time looked rough. What a proper remake should be. It was supposed to be released in January 2021, but was delayed until March 2021.

The release date is still undecided.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Gollum is an interesting character in The Lord of the Rings. It is easily the biggest and most ambitious title from developer Daedalic Entertainment, so it makes sense that it needs more time to meet expectations. Daedalic said it should fully leverage the power of the new generation of consoles and that the universe will be faithfully represented when it launches.

Saints Row

The Saints Row reboot was supposed to be in February of 2022, but it was moved to August of that year. The developer stated that the move was to make the game exceed expectations and meet high standards.

The release date is in August of 2022.

Skull & Bones

Skull and Bones has suffered delays before, and it probably won't be the last. It was expected to be released in the fourth quarter of the year. It has yet to release, but we can see how that panned out. It is expected to be released in the next fiscal year starting in April 2022.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Fans of the cult classic have been waiting for the sequel for over a decade. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 was initially scheduled to hit store shelves in March 2020, but was delayed later into 2020 and then again in 2021. The development team was delayed indefinitely by the publisher.
