According to sources, the Philadelphia 76ers are expected to sign free-agent center DeAndre Jordan once he clears waivers Thursday.

The teams have until 5 pm. There was no indication that a claim on Jordan was likely to happen on Thursday.

The Lakers used the roster spot to sign DJ Augustin.

Sources said that the Lakers waiving of Jordan on Monday moves them closer to filling that roster hole as the 76ers have been aggressive in pursuit of a backup center.

If Jordan signed a free-agent deal instead of being claimed on waivers, he would save the 76ers $2.3 million in luxury tax. There is an open roster spot for the 76ers to take on Jordan.

Jordan dropped out of the rotation after 19 games. Jordan was a two-time All-NBA defensive first-team choice and an All-NBA first team member for the Clippers.
