A growing number of Russian tycoons have made their way to the Indian Ocean, cruising around the islands just as sanctions are imposed on their homeland.

According to an analysis of vessel data, the four biggest luxury yachts in theMaldives are Russian-owned. According to SuperyachtFan.com, the largest boat is the Ocean Victory, which is owned by Victor Rashnikov.

The data shows that the 465-foot Nord is in the Seychelles after sailing from the Maldives. After leaving Turkey on Feb. 18th, Sea Rhapsody will be heading to the island chain.

According to the Superyacht Group, up to 10% of the global superyacht fleet is owned by Russians. The number of yacht counts in the archipelago has dropped from 19 last year to 10 this year, while the number in the former British colony of the Seychelles has risen from five to 12.

As part of its economic campaign against Moscow, the U.S. will take aim at Russian business leaders' assets. In his State of the Union address Tuesday, President Joe Biden said that the U.S. and its allies are preparing to seize the yachts, luxury apartments and private jets of wealthy, politically connected Russians.
