The most common graphic file type is the JPEG.

Many images and graphics come in a format called a PNG. You can use the Preview program on your Mac computer to convert a PNG to a JPEG.

Here is how to do it.

How to convert a PNG to a JPG on your Mac computer

1. You can open your file with preview. It should be the default image viewer on your Mac, but you can also right click on the file, scroll down to open with, and then select preview.

2. To change the file type, click on File from the top toolbar, scroll down, and then click on Export.

Unless you change the name, it may be hard to tell the difference between a photo and a video. If you click on the file, you will get a rundown on your image file, including whether it is a.JPG or.PNG.
