According to The Athletic, the Miami Hurricanes will add Pro Football Hall of Fame player, Jason Taylor, to their football staff.
Taylor preferred the off-the-field role.
The connection was reported by Gaby Urrutia, who noted that the 47-year-old had previously turned down other coaching opportunities at the college level.
Taylor has been at St. Thomas Aquinas for the past five years and the past two years.
The majority of Taylor's time in the NFL came with the Miami Dolphins. A third-round pick by the team in 1998, the Pittsburgh native finished his 15-year career with 139.5 sacks, 11th in league history, while earning six Pro Bowl selections and the 2006 Defensive Player of the Year award.
He was a member of Canton.
Another person with an impressive resume has joined the Miami staff.
Ed Reed is the chief of staff for the Hurricanes, while former coaches Kevin Steele and Charlie Strong were hired as defensive coordinators and linebackers coach, respectively. Josh Gattis, the top assistant coach in the country, was hired away from the University of Michigan.
Expectations for the program should be raised after finishing with a winning record. The new coaching staff at Miami wants to return to national contention after just one 10-win season in the last 18 years.
