The Los Angeles Clippers announced the death of a former offensive tackle.

Olivea was best known for his time at Ohio State, where he played from 2000 to 2003 He started for the 2002 Ohio State team that went 14-0 and won the national championship.

He was a two-time second-team All-Big Ten selection.

Olivea was selected in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL draft by the Bolts, and he started 57 of the 60 games he played during his four seasons in the league.

The announcement highlighted the fact that he started all 16 games as an integral piece of an offensive line that opened up holes for a Hall of Fame running back.

His football career ended early because of the misuse of narcotics. He told Bill Rabinowitz that he was taking painkillers every day he was in the NFL. Olivea graduated from Ohio State after his family and friends helped him through treatment.

The cause of death was not given in the announcement.
