  • Google wants employees in the Bay Area and other U.S. locations to be back at the office starting April 4.
  • As part of the hybrid setup, employees will spend three days a week in physical offices.
  • The move marks the end of Google's voluntary work-from-home period.

If not for a few delays, the return-to-office plans for U.S. employees would have begun last month. It is going to happen in April.

Employees were told in an email that they should be back in their offices by April 4. Some people are allowed to work from home on a full-time basis.

The new mandate applies to staff in the Bay Area.

It has been a long and challenging two years since the vast majority of our people started working from home.

They will be expected to work three days a week. Depending on the nature of their work, some employees may need to be at their desks more than three days a week.

In March, the tech giant will help employees move to the new hybrid environment.

In October of last year, the search giant confirmed that most of its staff would work from home a few days a week, and another 20% would be able to work from any of its locations. They will be allowed to work from home permanently.

Employees who are fully vaccine free will not be required to wear a mask or get a COVID test. Accommodations must also be approved by the office.
