Ikem Ekwonu 'wouldn't be shocked' to go No. 1 to Jacksonville (0:34)

Ikem Ekwonu talked about his first interview with the Jags and why he wouldn't be surprised to be the first pick of the draft. There is a time and a place.

Ekwonu has done his homework and believes he can be the top pick in the draft.

Ekwonu is projected to go to Jacksonville with the top pick. He is the second-ranked prospect by both Mel Kiper and Todd McShay.

Ekwonu said he would be the third player in NC State history to go No. 1 overall. I would be surprised if I went top overall. I feel like I put the work in for that. When that time comes, I wouldn't be shocked.

The personable Ekwonu was asked if there was anything about the draft process that would surprise him.

Ekwonu said that he wouldn't say pressure, but there was always expectations. Ask any coach if I put the work in. I do everything I can to fulfill those expectations.

The only other NC State player to be taken in the first round is Mario Williams, who was taken by the Houston Texans. The Oakland Raiders selected Roman Gabriel as the first overall pick.

Gabriel signed with the Los Angeles Rams after being selected second overall in the NFL draft.

Ekwonu played guard and tackle in his three seasons with the Jags. His highlights show defenders sprawled on the ground after he blocked them. He is an overpowering player who many personnel executives believe still has room to grow when his technique matches his power.

He said he has put in a lot of work in pass-blocking drills while training in California. Ekwonu considers himself a tackle prospect, even though he would be willing to move inside to guard.

Ekwonu said he sees himself as a left tackle if you ask him.

Ekwonu has an inside track on an NFL training camp tradition for rookies -- singing or talent shows, given his background in musical theater in elementary school, including roles in performances of "101 Dalmatians" and "Aristocats."

Ekwonu said that he was the lead in 101 Dalmatians. I have a long range. I can sing the base song. I sang a lot of tenor in high school because there weren't many guys who could hit those high notes.

It's... I will show them I can sing in training camp.
