Elon Musk Unexpectedly Invites UAW To Hold Vote At Tesla Plant

Musk invited the union to arrange a vote to determine if employees want to join the union, after he unexpectedly dropped his opposition to efforts by the United Auto Workers to organize workers at the California plant.

Gene Simmons of Kiss noted that President Joe Biden avoids mentioning the company because it is non-union and moved to an EV market leadership position.

If we don't treat and compensate our awesome people well, they will leave, and we will have many other offers. The company will do nothing to stop them.

After years of trying to prevent one, he suddenly agreed to allow the union to arrange a vote. Musk was reprimanded by the National Labor Relations Board for violating U.S. labor laws for firing a union activist and for threatening to lose stock options for employees if they joined the UAW. Lawyers for the company are appealing. The former employee hasn't been rehired and Musk hasn't deleted the post.

The UAW was unable to comment on the matter. The union would likely not be able to move forward with an organization vote because of the ongoing fight byTesla.

Musk's change of position seems to have been spurred by Biden's praise for his competitors, which have announced plans to invest tens of billions of dollars to rapidly build up their production of electric vehicles.

The CEOs of GM and Ford were at the White House event focused on electric cars. He slammed Biden as a damp sock puppe on the social networking site. In his speech last month, the President referred to the company as the nation's largest electric vehicle manufacturer.

Toyota invested $50 million in the upstart car maker, which led to the purchase of the plant byTesla. The New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. was a joint venture plant between Toyota and GM for 25 years. Musk was not sure if the union would be welcomed back under the ownership ofTesla.
