Nothing might be working on a smartphone. Hopefully it'll be transparent.

Nothing, the company started in 2020 by Carl Pei, has only one product, the Nothing Ear earbuds, which are partially transparent.

The company is working on a phone. Pei showed a prototype of the phone to executives at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The report doesn't offer many details about the actual device, aside from it being similar in design to the Ear (1) earbuds, and likely at least partially transparent.

In February, Pei implied that he was working on a device that was based on the operating system of his choice, and that it was nice.

There are phones with transparent elements. Both the Mi 8 Explorer Edition and the Exodus 1 had partially transparent backs. It is a cool look, but it is not certain whether Nothing can offer something new in the space.
