According to a new report from The Elec, SAMSUNG has begun developing more advanced panels that should meet Apple's requirements for use in future iPad and Macs.

Apple is looking for panels for larger displays that have two emission layers, which will double the brightness and quadrupling of theOLED display, according to previous reports.

The rationale for requiring two-stack panels is that iPads tend to be used for longer. The expectation is that the more advanced panels will eventually make their way into MacBooks and iMacs. The Apple Watch and the iPhone are the only products that use anOLED displays.

The project to create a 10.86-inch panel was halted in the third quarter because it was too expensive for SAMSUNG to make enough of the panels at the right price.

The display arm of the Korean company is aiming to develop the T1 material set to get customer evaluation, and apply it for commercial production in 2023.

With the necessary manufacturing equipment in place, the set will be ready for production, and the successor, T2, will be ready for commercial production in 2024. The T2 material set will likely be the first panels used by Apple for its iPad, according to a report today.

In the future, it is expected that the more advanced panels in the GALAXY Tab and GALAXY Books series will allow it to maintain its hardware leadership over Apple.

Recent rumors suggest that Apple is working with BOE on larger-sized panels for Macs and iPads, with the recently converted factory able to manufacture displays that are up to 15 inches in size.
