Apple's next hardware event is almost here. The company is holding an event on Tuesday, March 8, at 10 AM. It will be a virtual event that you can watch from Apple's website or Apple TV. It will be on the video sharing website, as well.

Apple's event invitation features the slogan "p eek performance" along with some augmented reality graphics. It seems we will get a look at some new Mac hardware and possibly some updates to the augmented reality features. There are also rumors of an updated iPad Air.

What to expect from the event is here.

A new iPhone SE

Every few years, Apple releases a low-cost iPhone using modern components in an old body, and this year seems no different. According to Mark Gurman, Apple plans on launching the third iPhone SE at $399, featuring the same design as before, but with 5G support, an improved camera, and the A15 Bionic processor.

The new iPhone SE is expected to look a lot like the old iPhone SE, which is to say it’ll look like an iPhone 6.

iPad Air 5

New iPad for the new year. The A15 chip, two extra speakers, and 5G are expected to be included in the iPad. The camera is likely to be improved as well.

A new desktop Mac (probably the Mini)

According to Gurman, Apple is planning to announce a lot of Macs this year, and it's very likely we'll see at least one at the March 8 event. Apple doesn't usually announce its high- performance mobile products until the fall.

It makes no sense for Apple's laptops to be more powerful than its desktop offerings for so long. The Mac Mini is expected to be a slimmer, sleeker design.

We haven't seen any concrete rumors to suggest that Apple will announce or tease the full-size Mac Pro, but the slogan could be interpreted as Apple's absolute best, which would indicate the company will announce or tease the full-size Mac Pro.

A new MacBook or two with M2

The M1 chip was announced in 2020 and is due for an update. There are rumors that a new MacBook Pro powered by an entry-level M2 chip will be better than the previous M1 MacBook Pro, but that won't match up to the M1 Pro and Max.

The new MacBook Pro won't feature a fancy 120 Hz display or MiniLED panel in order to keep costs low. The lesser screen technology may be able to avoid the notch. Maybe.

It is very likely that Apple will announce a new MacBook Air with the M2 chip sometime this year, but it is not certain if it will arrive at this event.

iOS 15.4

We are expecting a release date for the software. Support for FaceID while wearing a mask is included in a largely mid-cycle upgrade. It also has support for multi- device interactions with Universal Control, as well as over 30 new emoji. Most software announcements will arrive later this year.
