Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant is expected to return Thursday night against the Miami Heat after missing a month and a half with a left knee injury.

The team that went 5-16 in his absence will get a huge lift from the fact that he was not listed in the injury report for the first time.

The timing of trading James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for a package of Ben Simmons and two future first round picks, coupled with the absence of Kevin Durant on the floor, made for a very interesting situation. The decline for a team that was at or near the top of the table prior to the injury of an All-Star forward is a sharp one.

He's going to come back and impact the game every way possible. With our chemistry on the floor, it will be difficult for teams to pick their poison, with who they want to guard, along with Kyrie, and when Ben comes back. We have a lot of threats and we go on the list.

After the All Star break, KD returned to practice and has been around his team and on the bench a lot over the last couple weeks. With his availability, the group will have a big emotional lift.

Nets guard Bruce Brown said that he didn't think he was hurt when he was asked about the progress of the rehab. He looks good.
