Several of his rounds went into the apartment next to him. Walker told officers that Taylor was dead when he was ordered out of the apartment. Hankison was surprised to learn there were more than one person in the apartment. He said that he was shaking because there was only one person in the apartment and that there was a girl inside. Hankison told the jury that this was the first time he had fired his weapon while on duty, but that he had participated in as many as 1,000 search warrants during his career. He was not shown floor plans or photos of Taylor's apartment or building, even though he had signed up to participate in the raid that afternoon.
