The former UFC fighter was charged with 10 counts, including first-degree attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, after allegedly ramming and shooting a gun into a vehicle carrying a man accused of molesting one of his young relatives.
Harry Goularte was charged with a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14 and was released from custody. The child is a close relative of Velasquez but has not been identified.
The Santa Clara County district attorney said that Goularte's stepfather was shot by Velasquez after he rammed his truck into the vehicle.
The sad tragedy is that Mr. Velasquez took the law into his own hands, endangering everyone in the truck. The act of violence causes more pain and suffering to his family.
A handgun was found when police searched the truck. There were eight bullets missing from the gun.
If he is convicted, he will face several years in prison. Velasquez retired from mixed martial arts in 2019. He started his professional wrestling career in the World Wrestling Federation and Lucha Libre A Worldwide.
