The city of Tampa, Fla. A group of students were reprimanded by the Florida governor for wearing face masks at a news conference.

The students were asked to remove their masks as they waited for the Republican governor to speak at the University of South Florida.

You don't have to wear those masks. Please take them off. It is not doing anything. We have to stop at this theater. He let out an audible sigh and shook his head that this was ridiculous.

A potential GOP presidential candidate, DeSantis is running for reelection. His administration banned mask mandates in schools because of his opposition to masks and vaccines.

The office did not reply to the email. Christina Pushaw wrote that someone had to say it after 2 years of propaganda that terrified and manipulated young people. Relax, feel safe and be happy.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has changed its guidelines, but still recommends masks indoors in high risk areas. The college is located in a high risk area.

The incident was criticized on social media. Frederica Wilson, a Florida Democrat, said "shame on you, Governor, for berating students who choose to wear masks and for calling the ongoing #COVID Pandemic Theater."
