A 12-year-old girl was accused of torturing another child at a slumber party and committing three felony offenses.

According to a report by Fox 59 in Indianapolis, the 12-year old girl and another girl burned the victim with lighters, sat on her, shaved her head, and other acts.

One of the perpetrators has been accused of criminal confinement, intimidation, a Level 5 felony, and battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony.

The person has not been charged with felonies due to her age, but she is still accused of committing the crimes.

It is not possible to say that a child is charged with a crime the same way as an adult.

Even though the criminal justice process is different for juvenile, there are many options if it is proven that a child committed a felony offense. Most of the options are geared toward rehabilitation and can include time in a juvenile corrections facility.

The slumber party incident is still under investigation despite the accusations. Coleman Beckley could not say anything about the case. Actions taken in juvenile cases depend on a variety of factors.

Beckley said that each child is different and that they try to address their needs. It also depends on things like how many run-ins with the juvenile justice system the child has had previously, the nature of the offense, and whether or not it involves hurting somebody else.

The story will be changed.
