Apple invited the media to an event on March 8 where it is expected to announce a new low-cost iPhone model.
The event will be streamed on Apple's website. Since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic in March 2020, Apple's launch events have been virtual.
The launch event is Apple's first since October 2021, when it revealed new MacBook Pro laptops. In April last year, Apple held an event with new products.
According to media and analyst reports, Apple could announce a new low-cost iPhone with 5G support, as well as a mid-range iPad.
The low-cost iPhone SE was introduced in the spring of 2020 and retails for $399. It's the most recent model with Apple's Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
The iPad is expected to be an updated version of the iPad Air. The device was last updated in October 2020.
There are several new features in the latest version of the software, including the ability to use facial recognition to unlock the device while wearing a mask, and the ability to accept credit card payments without additional hardware.
Apple's fall and spring device launches are more important to the company than they are to the public. In June, Apple holds an annual developer conference called the WWDC, where it sometimes releases new hardware.
