Spears: Saquon could be scary in Baltimore (1:38)

Marcus Spears would love to see what Saquon could do. There is a time and a place for this.

Kyle Rudolph, a veteran of the New York Giants, made the announcement on social media.

It was certainly not the year any of us expected, but a year that we will never forget. Thanks to everyone in the building who helped this old guy who needed to relearn everything about a new organization.

He intends to play next season, according to the text he sent to Adam.

He had 26 catches for 257 yards and a touchdown in his only year with the Giants. It was one of the least productive seasons of his career, in which he made two Pro Bowls with the Minnesota Vikings.

Thanks to everyone in the building who took in and helped this old guy who needed to relearn everything about a new organization.. Finally my teammates, in my 11 years in this league I'm not sure I've been around a closer group of guys!

His release was a rather easy decision for the Giants and a new regime led by general manager Joe Schoen, who said Tuesday the team would have to make tough decisions to get under the salary cap.

The $7.4 million against the cap was scheduled to be counted by Rudolph. Even if the Giants save $5 million with the move, they will still have dead money.

New York will need to address the tight end position in free agency or the draft. Evan Engram is also a free agent.

Dave Gettleman was the former general manager of the team. After agreeing to terms on a two-year deal worth $12 million, it was discovered that he would need surgery on a foot injury that limited him the previous season.

The Giants decided to honor the contract, which meant that Rudolph missed most of the summer. He never really hit his stride in New York as it appeared he lost a step while struggling to create separation, and averaged just 2.9 yards per separation this season. In the previous two seasons, he averaged four and 3.4 yards.

He spent the previous 10 seasons with the Vikings. He was less productive this year than he was in the previous two years.

He has 4,745 yards and 49 touchdown catches in his career.
