Apple will hold its first event of the future on Tuesday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m. The Steve Jobs Theater is on the Apple Park campus.
The first event of the year of 2022 will be a digital gathering with no members of the media invited to attend due to the public health crisis.
There are a lot of rumors about what we can expect to see at the event. At least one Mac with an Apple chip is expected to be announced, as well as the next-generation version of the iPhone SE, a refreshed iPad Air, and a 13-inch MacBook Pro.
The third-generation iPhone SE will look the same as the second-generation model, and no design changes are expected. The device will feature a Touch ID Home button and an updated A-series chip. The most affordable 5G iPhone will be from Apple, according to an analyst.
The next-generation iPad Air will get a faster chip and 5G, but Apple won't make any design changes. Center Stage, the feature that keeps you in frame even as you move around the room, could be updated with a new FaceTime camera.
Apple is rumored to be releasing a higher-end version of the Mac mini with an overhauled design and M1 Pro and M1 Max chips. The new Mac mini will replace the current options, and it could be announced at the March event.
An updated version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro is rumored to be released on March 8. The MacBook Pro will look the same as the current 13-inch model, and it will be a lower-end version of the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
The M2 chip will feature the same 8-core CPUs as the M1 chip, but speed and efficiency improvements are expected. There are rumors that the M2 chip will be available in 9 and 10-core options, up from the 7 and 8-core options available with the original chip.
When the event kicks off at 10:00 a.m., Apple will stream it live on its website and in the Apple TV app. The time is on March 8. Full event coverage will be provided on MacRumors.com and through the MacRumorsLive account for those who can't watch.
