The remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 will have free graphical updates later in 2022, along with Resident Evil 7 and 3D audio on the PS5, Xbox Series X / S, and PC.
You will be able to get these updates for free if you own a copy of these games on the PS4 or Xbox One. The PS5 will have a digital upgrade option, whereas the Xbox will have a feature that will automatically play the current-gen version of each game once it is available. On PC, the upgrade will be in an update.
The PS5 will have dualsense support for all three games.
Even without graphical updates, the recent Resident Evil titles are among the most visually-impressive games out there. They are some of the best games yet. Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7 are both good places to start if you are new to the series or have only played Resident Evil Village.
While their stories barely overlap, they each show how good Capcom is at making horror games. RE2 is a bold remake of the 1998 PS1 title with a great atmosphere and modern design, while RE7 goes first-person with a completely different kind of environment and, perhaps, an even more twisted sense of dread. Sam Byford thought the RE3 remake was good, but not the must-play experience that RE2 is. Pick them up when they're available for a discount for your platform.
