The Ukranian government wants gaming giants to join a tech industry campaign against Russia. Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called on Microsoft, Sony and other gaming companies to temporarily block all Russian and Belarusian player accounts. He asked the organizers to stop participation from Russian and Belarussian competitors. Fedorov argued that these moves would motivate Russians to resist military aggression. He believed technology could be the answer to Russia's military hardware. We asked Microsoft and Sony what they thought. Some game developers are in favor of Ukraine. CD Projekt Red donated the equivalent of $232,000 to humanitarian efforts in the country. It is not clear if Microsoft or Sony will take action. Russia isn't the largest market for either company, but banning the country would still represent a significant move. Microsoft has already banned Russian state media, and they would be joining companies like Apple that have stopped doing business. Even if the teams don't go as far as Ukraine would like, there will be pressure on them to act. @Xbox @PlayStation You are definitely aware of what is happening in Ukraine right now. Russia declare war not for Ukraine but for all civilized world. If you support human values, you should live the Russian market! pic.twitter.com/tnQr13BsSv
