The Player Impact Program bonus was won by Tiger Woods, who hasn't played in a tour event for more than a year while recovering from injuries suffered in a car wreck. The popularity of a player is measured by a set of criteria.

The $8 million top prize was won by Woods. Phil Mickelson will get $6 million for second place in the race and for indicating in December that he had finished first.

Four players will be paid $3.5 million, while others will be paid $3 million.

Some players, including defending FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay, have criticized the program and said they would rather see the money rewarded based on on-course performance.

I don't think thePIP does that, I think I'm old-school in the respect that I would like the money to be doled out relative to play.

The bonus pool increased from 40 million to 50 million. It rewards the top 10 players by an impact score, which is determined by five metrics: their popularity in Google searches, their Q rating, the Nielsen Brand Exposure rating, the MVP index rating and their Meltwater Mentions, which measure the frequency that a player creates coverage across various media platforms
