In the Republican response to the State of the Union address, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds criticized President Joe Biden's foreign and domestic policy.

The president tried to paint a different picture, but his actions over the last year don't match the rhetoric.

Reynolds, an Iowa native and grandmother of 11, said she felt the country has moved backwards instead of making progress.

It feels like President Biden and his party have sent us back in time to the 70s and 80s, instead of moving America forward.

Reynolds argued that Biden's presidency has been a series of foreign policy mistakes, beginning with the Afghanistan withdrawal.

Reynolds said that all Americans must stand together in solidarity with the brave people of Ukraine as they fight for their freedom.

Biden's poor domestic policy has made the U.S. weak at the global level.

The president's approach to foreign policy has been too little, too late. We can project strength abroad if we are weak at home.

The Biden administration's fiscal, education, and immigration policies were critiqued by Reynolds. She criticized Democrats who tell Americans to stay home or wear masks while often going maskless, and she pointed out that Iowa was the first state in the country to reopen schools for full-time in-person learning.

You have heard the excuses. Reynolds said that the American people were waiting to exhale.

The solution to America's problems isn't more government spending or control, according to Reynolds.

We know that our problems require bold action, but we also know that it doesn't have to mean government action.

The strength of the country is dependent on Americans making their own decisions to better their families and businesses.

Reynolds said that the soul of America isn't about who lives in the White House. The state of our union is strong by that most important measure.
