The financial squeeze on Russia has turned into a major test of cryptocurrencies and their exchanges. In the past few days, many of the biggestcryptocurrencies have rallied. The ruble plummeted in value as Russian money flowed in. Is this due to the narrative being pushed by investors and owners? I don't know. I am not an economist.
As of February 28th, Ukraine had raised over $13 million in cryptocurrencies. Last week, it was reported that there were restrictions on the accounts of Russians who were affected by the sanctions.
Despite requests from Ukraine to go further, major exchanges are saying that doing so would harm civilians and be counter to their ideals.
The fringes of governmental influence still exist for cryptocurrencies.
