AMC is experimenting with charging more for tickets to The Batman compared to other films showing at its cinemas. The move seems to be an attempt to cash in on the anticipation for the new superhero movie, which sees Robert Pattinson take on the role of the caped crusader for the first time. According to Deadline, tickets to see The Batman are more expensive than other films at the AMC Empire 25 in Times Square.

AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron said during an earnings call that the prices for The Batman are slightly higher than the prices for other movies playing in the same theaters at the same time. In Europe, we charge a premium for the best seats in the house, as do all sellers of tickets in other industries.

It is fairly common to see AMC subsidiary Odeon charge more to sit in the middle of its cinemas. The more premium seating at my local Odeon in South London costs around $12.65 compared to around $10 for a regular seat. The Batman will be shown at the same time as Sing 2, but the price for the movie is less.

AMC is experimenting with variable pricing around The Batman, where it charges more for weekend tickets compared to midweek showings in select cinemas.

AMC warned in October of 2020 that it could run out of cash by the end of the year, as its business was hit hard by the Pandemic. The company found itself at the center of a memestock trading frenzy that may have helped reverse the company's fortunes. AMC's business is always about selling cinema tickets.
