Scorecard

England beat South Africa in their final World Cup warm-up match.

The game was reduced to 35 overs a side because of the rain and England were able to reach the target with almost nine overs to spare.

Shrubsole and Brunt were excellent with the new ball, as South Africa was 19-3 before the spinner picked up 3-23.

Tammy and Nat made 35 and 33 runs, respectively.

England begin their defence of the title against Australia in Hamilton on Saturday, a day after New Zealand open the tournament against the West Indies.

After going winless during the Ashes, England stepped up a level to comfortably defeat a talented South Africa team.

The South Africans are ranked second in the world, sandwiched between Australia and England, but were without their captain and star opener due to injury and the birth of their first child.

Shrubsole said that it was a good performance and that they were ready to go.

Everyone looks in good shape going into the tournament.

The South Africa top order could not handle the new-ball movement produced by the experienced pair of Shrubsole and Brunt.

After her century against Bangladesh,Sciver added 43 with her and 42 with Amy Jones.

Sophia Dunkley and Danni Wyatt hit the winning run after Sciver retired out.

Shrubsole said that they were desperate to defend their title and that they would be right in the mix.
