If a Russian invasion of Ukraine had happened when Donald Trump was in office, he wouldn't have stood in Putin's way, according to the former national security advisor.

"Well, I'm not sure he would have done much of anything, frankly, if Russia had attacked Ukraine," said the National Security Adviser in an interview with Vice published March 1, responding to a question about what Trump might have done.

You never know with Trump. It depends on what time of day it is and what he thought his political benefit would be. I don't think he would have stood in Putin's way.

He said that he did not think that Trump cared about Ukraine in the first place.

It is hard for me to describe how little he knows, according to the interview with Vice.

Your opinions have to be completely unsound when you're operating on a poor understanding of the circumstances.

In the same interview,Bolton criticized Trump for his lack of understanding of what the stakes were in Ukraine.

He asked the White House Chief of Staff if Russia was a part of Finland. He cared about the DNC server, the 2016 election, and the 2020 election.

In an interview with Newsmax this week, the national security adviser said that Trump knew where Ukraine was and that he would have handled Russia better than Biden.

It was stupidity and incompetence that led to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, claims Trump. He said the crisis would never have happened if he had been president.

While in office, Trump bashed NATO and raised the possibility of the US leaving the alliance.
