There could be more regular-season games lost for the first time in almost three decades after the players rejected the owners' best and final offer.
The league and the MLBPA failed to reach an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement by Tuesday. The first two series of the regular season were canceled. March 31 was the opening day.
The last work strike in MLB was in 1994-95. It is the fifth game that resulted in canceled games. The upcoming season will see the cancellation of 91 games. The Oakland A's, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Miami Marlins, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, and New York Yankees all have seven. The schedule will likely be 156 games or less.
The failure to reach a new CBA caused a flurry of reactions on social media.
Manfred gotta go.

To the fans we will miss you most. To the younger generation of baseball players, this is for you.

Caleb and I will be ready whenever the call comes. Hope this brings a smile to some who might be disappointed right now. Baseball is still awesome. Was watching little league yesterday. Awesome! Been practicing with high school kids. Awesome! Baseball isn't the problem. pic.twitter.com/uzJNUacEaV

FWIW MLB has pumped to the media last night & today that there's momentum toward a deal. Now saying the players tone has changed. So if a deal isn't done today it's our fault. This isn't a coincidence. We've had the same tone all along. We just want a fair deal/to play ball.
