Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said on Ukrainian television on Tuesday that his country received information about a planned assassination attempt on President Volodymyr Zelensky from agents of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.

The Chechen special forces that were sent to kill Zelensky had no desire to take part in the war, according to representatives of the FSB.

He said that the Kadyrovites, who came here to kill our president, were destroyed. Chechen paramilitary group Kadyrovites is accused of a number of human-rights violations and abuses. They serve for the pleasure of the head of the Chechen Republic, a close ally of Putin.

Zelensky has remained in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv despite being urged to flee the country. Zelensky replied that the fight was here and he needed bullets, not a ride, after the United States offered to evacuate him.

No one will break us. We are strong. The Ukrainian president told the European Parliament that they are Ukrainians. I think it's a fair one.
