The K-pop girl group secured their place in the U.S. touring history books as TWICE came off stage from a seven-song encore at New York.
TWICE is the first female K-pop act to hold two separate arena tours in the world's biggest music market. Three arena shows at Chicago's Wintrust Arena, Newark's Prudential Center, and The Forum in Los Angeles were included in the tour. The run included seven concerts, including two at The Forum, as well as stops at the Oakland Arena, Forth Worth's Dickies Arena, Atlanta's State Farm Arena, and two sold-out dates at the UBS Arena. Due to high demand after the sellout, second shows were added to both LA and NY.
This is the first time a female K-pop act has been able to perform in multiple arenas. 2NE1 and BLACKPINK are the only female groups to have held arena tours but have yet to return to the US. TWICE is the fifth-ever K-pop act to hold multiple arena tours among all artists.
According to a report from TWICE's label JYP Entertainment, the seven dates brought out an audience of 100,000 fans. The group's previous trek brought in more than 30,000 fans.
Their chart-topping viral hits like "The Feels" and "I Can" were included in their latest performances. The girl group brought out a production that included a long runway, multi-tiered platforms, and towering light displays, all of which allowed them to showcase their songs in a variety of ways.
The group will play the Tokyo Dome for the second time on April 23 and 24.
