The Washington Commanders will definitely pursue star quarterbacks such as Rodgers and Wilson, according to John Keim.

According to that report, Washington has reached out to every team to inquire about a quarterback's availability and the cost, and started its search with a list of 42 quarterbacks.

The Commanders will conduct a comprehensive search to find a franchise quarterback.

Mitch Trubisky drawing lots of FA buzz. Several teams - inc #Commanders, #Steelers and #Saints - are all interested in the former No. 2 pick, sources say. Trubisky is still just 27 - #Bills LOVED having him - and several execs told me Mitch is viewed as a starting QB right now.

#Steelers and #Commanders both highly intrigued by Jimmy G, according to sources.

Pittsburgh OC Matt Canada wants to deploy RPO - not dissimilar 2 the offense Garrappolo ran with the #Niners.

Ron Rivera not only believes his team can win now, but has over $30M in cap as well.

Ron Rivera says Washington has spent a lot of time on the 2022 QB class and started intvw process. Commanders plan on bringing some in for private visits. “Different type of group” bc some with athleticism and some are pocket passers

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

The Commanders have had five losing seasons in a row. Washington has not won a playoff game since 2005 and has only made the playoffs five times this century.

Case Keenum and Haskins both got run.

The Commanders haven't had a player worth being excited about at the position since Robert Griffin III was a starter in the NFL. In the past decade, the team's most consistent starter was Kirk Cousins, and Washington wasn't willing to pay to keep him around.

Why a player like Rodgers or Wilson would give their blessing to be traded to Washington is a natural question.

Rodgers has won a title and made the playoffs 11 times as the starter for the Packers. Wilson has missed the playoffs twice. Even if both players wanted to leave their current situations, would a mediocre Washington franchise move the needle for them?

Maybe the young talent on the team could be attractive. In 2020, Tom Brady came to the locker room of the Buccaneers and guided them to a title.

Whether this Washington team is built to make that type of run is up for debate. There is a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, from running back Antonio Gibson and wideout Terry McLaurin to defensive linemen like Chase Young and Jonathan Allen.

The front seven is really good. Mike Tannenbaum, a former general manager and analyst for the network, told Keim that they could use another piece or two.
