The new fast emergency dialer is designed to help users traveling internationally quickly access police, fire, and medical services. The dialer was first seen in the emergency app of the Pixel, but now it is being rolled out to a wider release.

Accessing the Fast Emergency Dialer when your phone is unlocked will vary by device

Anyone can use it at any location. The emergency dialer will show options that are relevant to your location.

  • Quick access: To call an emergency number with one action, use the slider.
  • Automatic emergency numbers: Your phone finds emergency numbers automatically, even when you travel.
  • Multiple emergency numbers: Your phone finds available numbers for your area, like Police, Fire, or medical services. Use the slider for the emergency service you need.

The emergency dialer can be found on the phone's lock screen or on the power menu.

The power button depends on your device, according to the support page. To access it, you need to hold down the power button for five seconds, tap the emergency button, and then use the sliders in the emergency menu. The power and volume up buttons can be pressed at the same time if you want to use the emergency button. If you want to get easier access to the power and emergency menu on a Pixel 6, follow these instructions.

The FED feature is not available in all regions. If you don't have access to the FED, you can still use the traditional emergency dialer.
