Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said it was the same when he ran into other teams at the NFL scouting combine.

He claimed that his phone is not constantly buzzing, and that teams are calling to inquire about the availability of Rodgers.

Gutekunst said not at all. Not a single person.

Maybe they are just waiting for Rodgers to tell the Packers if he wants to play in 2022, and then submit the trade offers they have made in case he does.

Gutekunst thinks the Packers will know before free agency opens on March 16 if Rodgers has informed them.

Gutekunst said he would hope so. There are a lot of decisions to be made. That would be helpful. I think we would know something before then.

The Packers are planning multiple scenarios.

There is a lot of unknowns as you get into this time, so it is no different than every year. You don't know how that will go. Plan B, Plan C, and those are things you have to have. It is really no different. It gets a lot of attention because of the player and his status, but really no different.

The Packers are over the salary cap with contracts of receiver Davante Adams, LB De Vondre Campbell and CB Rasul Douglas.

They are now $27.5 million over the cap thanks to the basic renegotiations with left tackle David Bakhtiari, defensive tackle Kenny Clark, and running back Aaron Jones. If a long-term deal isn't done by March 8, the Packers will use the franchise tag on Adams. They want to keep Adams even if Rodgers doesn't come back.

Gutekunst said that they were lucky to have them and that they were both great in their own right. They are separate.

Additional cap space will be created by whatever Rodgers decides. Depending on the timing of the decision, the Packers would get between $19.3 million and $26.9 million in salary-cap savings. He has one year left on his contract and will count $46.1 million against the cap if he decides to return.

Packers vice president of football operations Russ Ball is in contract talks with Rodgers agent, David Dunn.

Gutekunst said that it was part of the process of Rodgers decision-making.
