Reid calls reported drama with Bieniemy 'fabricated' (0:30)

Andy is surprised that Eric Bieniemy did not get a head-coaching job. (0:30)

When the Kansas City Chiefs season ended in the year 2021, Andy Reid didn't think Eric Bieniemy would be back for a second season.

Bieniemy would be an NFL head coach by now, according to Reid. Bieniemy has interviewed for head-coaching jobs in the past four years, including this year with the Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints.

It does surprise me, he is a great football coach.

Despite a recent online report suggesting that there was a lot of tension between Bieniemy and other players last season, he did not hesitate to re-sign Bieniemy for another season. After it was posted, the report was taken down.

The whole thing with Eric Bieniemy has been made up.

That is not the case. We all get along well, and I am glad he is with us again. I thought he would get a head-coaching job and I would be happy with it. That is not the way it worked out.

The New York Giants have an offensive coach named Mike Kafka. They replaced him with Matt Nagy, who was the offensive coach for the Bears.

It was great to have Matt back, I thought it was important to have continuity between Eric and Nagy. I didn't know where he would be after being a head coach but he was fired up to do it and I told Eric to go.
